Use the picnic areas in the Stelvio National Park for a relaxing, enjoyable day in nature.

They are strategically placed oases of peace that blend seamlessly into the the landscape of the protected area. Leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind you and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings to the to the full.
The picnic areas are often located at crossroads of hiking trails, but also near small villages and hamlets, as a kind of local recreation area, or near country roads. The sites are equipped with benches and tables, and some also offer barbecue facilities.

Fires are only permitted in the National Park at the designated barbecue areas!

Near the winding Stelvio Pass road, for example, there are numerous picnic areas that are ideal for a relaxing break during a drive, bike ride or hike. For example the picnic area “Drei Brunnen”, which offers several barbecue areas and an adjacent parking lot. Here you can enjoy the impressive view of the surrounding mountains and take in the majesty of nature. Families, friends and nature lovers can take a well-deserved break in the picturesque surroundings.

Other examples are the numerous idyllic picnic spots along the country road in Val Martello. The picnic areas at ‘Maria Schmelz’ or in the flat section after the Zufritt reservoir are particularly well equipped. There are public car parks here, so you don't have to drive to the end of the valley to take a pleasant break.

The Stelvio National Park Authority, based in Glorenza/Glurns, is responsible for maintaining the picnic areas in the South Tyrolean part of the National Park. This also includes the maintenance of the numerous hiking trails within this area.
