Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon in the Stelvio National Park
Nordic Skiing centres in South Tyrol
The high-altitude trails on the sprawling plateaus of the Ortler Alps in the Stelvio National Park offer excellent, if arduous, cross-country skiing conditions. There are both cross-country ski trails and panoramic routes for classic cross-country skiing and skating. In addition to the Trafoi Panoramic Trail, is the High Altitude Cross-Country Ski Trail at 1,900 m in the Suldner Tal/Val di Solda Valley. The 25 km-long Ultental/Val d’Vltimo Valley Panoramic Cross-Country Trail is a popular classic cross-country skiing and skating route.
The Biathlon Centre in the Martelltal Valley
At the new, 12 km-long Martelltal/Val Martello Valley Biath-lon Centre, cross-country skiers and biathletes have all they could wish for. Seasoned biathletes, amateur runners and even inexperienced athletes can make use of the meticulously kept cross-country ski run, where the annual IBU Cup is held. The Biathlon Centre offers a high-tech shooting range with 27 fully automated shooting stations. Ski rental facilities are available as well as a cross-country ski school with individual and group courses run by professional athletes.
