Route description
The seventh stage of the 360° Obervinschgau circular hiking trail starts in Glurns and ends in Taufers im Münstertal. Start at the bridge over the Adige River at the Taufers Gate Tower, pass the parish church of St. Pancras and turn right above the road along the old Waalweg trail in the direction of Taufers. After a short ascent along a serpentine path, you reach the Mitterwaal. The soft sounds of the wooden xylophone at the edge of the path remind you of the splashing of the Waal. The trail continues through a mixed forest of larches, spruces and firs in the direction of Münstertal. In front of the hamlet of Rifair, three special primeval spruces can be seen. The hike continues above Rifair in the direction of Rambach and ends in the village of Taufers in the Münstertal. A side trip to the Rhaeto-Romanic Switzerland with the UNESCO World Heritage Monastery of St. Johann in the Val Müstair is recommended.
