With many of its mountain summits reaching above 3,000 m, the Stelvio National Park is well suited to extreme – though ecologically sustainable – sporting events that leave a minimal footprint. The annual Cycling Day, which is held on the breath-taking Stilfserjoch/Stelvio Pass Road and the Biathlon IBU Cup in the Martelltal/Val Martello Valley, are among the most popular international sporting events held in the National Park. Fans of ski touring know about the famous Marmotta Trophy in the Martelltal Valley, as well as other regular tourist and religious events such as the Marteller Advent, the Strawberry Festival and many others.
